A guided day of writing and reflection at Seven Acres - look back over your year before the festive season takes over. Description Six spots, stunning views, a woodburner and a day to reflect on your year before December and the festivities get going. The Story Retreat at Seven Acres is a guided day of writing and reflection in the Norfolk countryside. You’ll spend it with the stories of your year - what happened, what changed, what you made of it, and who you want to be on the other side of it. Your writing will be a way into your thoughts and feelings. There will be two guided writing sessions with solo time in between. You don’t need to have written anything before. This is not a writing workshop and nothing will be critiqued or read aloud unless you so choose. It is not a day of doing nothing either. One guest put it this way: “A tonic! Stimulating without feeling ‘fizzed up’. Demanding but not daunting, going at our own pace and being supported and scaffolded.” - Story Retreat guest Who’s leading it Your guide for the day is Shauna Madhavan, founder of The Story Salon™. Shauna spent 30 years working closely with other people’s stories - as a barrister, as a Protection Officer with UNHCR, and as an immigration lawyer - before training as a coach and returning to the storytelling and writing life she’d always wanted. She holds an MA in Human Rights, an MA in Creative Writing, an ICF coaching certification, and now works one to one with people at a turning point in life. Put plainly: she is used to holding difficult material carefully. The venue Seven Acres sits among fields, woods and meadows in East Tuddenham. A woodburner will keep you warm and snug as you write and watch autumn give way to winter. Seven Acres is home to Sue Huckle of Silver Leaves Jewellery and Posh Plants. Her jewellery and plants are available to browse on the day. What’s included • Two sessions of guided writing • All writing material • Hot drinks and snacks throughout the day • Free on-site parking What to bring • Your own lunch - there’s a fridge, a kettle, microwave and a cosy space to eat • Warm layers and shoes you don’t mind getting muddy (if you want to be outdoors) Getting there Seven Acres is rural and you’ll need a car.
