Using inks and pastels, Edwina will guide you through some still life exercises before completing a final still life drawing. Using decorative objects and flowers, you will explore how they work together in a space. You will explore pattern, texture and playing with colour. Edwina is known for her vibrant and colourful drawings, using decorative cultural references and is inspired by artists such as Matisse, Gaugin and Hockney. Her perspective is often distorted embracing the imperfection within the drawing. Participants will be encouraged to respond to the set up in a personal way, playing with movement of brushstrokes within their drawings, having fun with colour, pattern and texture. Edwina Sercombe b.1982, London, England. Edwina Sercombe is an Oxfordshire based artist working across multiple disciplines. She studied at Chelsea College of Art & Design before completing a BA Hons in Textile Design, specialising in Print at the Glasgow School of Art in 2006. Edwina now works from her home studio in Oxfordshire. She has worked across several creative platforms from cultural event programming to set design and dressing for events, film and television. Edwina freelances as both a set dresser, interior and floral stylist. Edwina’s paintings show her intrinsic love for colour and texture. Often referencing her African heritage and a cross cultural exploration of her mixed race identity, her loose painterly style gives her compositions an energy and sense of fun.
