Animal Encounters

Join us for a guided tour of our Species Recovery Centre to meet some of our wonderful animals. This tour runs on a Thursday and Saturday morning only, May-September. Strictly no dogs. Children welcome when accompanied by responsible parent or legal guardian. This tour introduces you to the species we have at our Species Recovery Centre. Our animals are here for a variety of reasons such as captive breeding programmes and filming. This guided tour will introduce you to a range of native wildlife from water voles and wildcats to white storks and adders (and more!). You will learn about the species and their habitats, their roles in ecosystems and our re-introduction and breeding programmes. The tour will end with a visit to the wildcat breeding area, where hopefully, you will get a glimpse of these elusive cats and maybe even their kittens. The tour starts at the site office at 9.30am outside our campsite office and lasts 1.5 hours ending at 11.00am at the Wild Cat kitchen near our Shepherd Huts. The meeting point for the start of the tour will be at the campsite office visible when you park in the gravel yard.
