Food workshop: Regional Indian Cuisine - Flavours of Gujarat

Join Cultural Champion Rekha Jina to explore Gujarati cuisine. You must book on to this workshop as we are limited to 15 places. Did you know that India has a vast array of differing cuisines and flavours, with each region having its speciality dishes and diverse use of spices? Gujarati cuisine is traditionally all vegetarian and often focusses on the 5 flavours. Join Cultural Champion Rekha Jina to explore Gujerati cuisine. She will bring deliciously prepared freshly cooked Bhaigan Bharta (spiced smokey aubergine) and beautifully thin, perfectly rolled chapatis (wheat based flat breads.) Rekha will demonstrate how the dish is made, speak to how food and meals are a vital part of Indian family, celebrations and community living, always bringing people together. This workshop provides an enjoyable introduction to Indian cuisine, encouraging participants to try new flavours while learning about the traditions and techniques behind one of the world’s most diverse culinary cultures. You can even have a go at rolling a chapati, giving you a hands-on insight into one of the basic and magical skills of Indian cooking.
