The Multi-Stage Desert Ultra January Training Camp is a practical, supportive weekend designed for runners preparing for multi-stage desert ultra events such as the Marathon des Sables, Ultra X, Grand to Grand and others. In association with Walking With The Wounded & The Rory Coleman Method Taking place at Pixies Holt Outdoor Centre in Dartmoor National Park, Devon, from 22–24 January 2027, the weekend is built around one thing: your preparation. Whether you're a first-time participant, a returning competitor or simply looking to build greater confidence ahead of your event, the camp gives you the opportunity to test your preparation, learn from experience and train alongside fellow multi-stage runners. Across the weekend you'll focus on the areas that can make a real difference to your race preparation, including: • Race pack and kit • Nutrition and hydration • Back-to-back training • Self-sufficiency • Foot care • Race strategy • Life in the bivouac • Sharing experiences and preparing alongside other runners The £325 per person weekend includes two nights' accommodation, full catering, guided training sessions, practical workshops, an experienced finisher Q&A, kit and equipment reviews, and support from an accomplished multi-stage team. The aim is simple: to leave you with tested race systems, practical solutions, new support networks and a clear plan for your final weeks of preparation. Meet two of your support team for the weekend: - Simon Halliday MDS Finisher & Blue Jacket | Ultra-Endurance Athlete | Expedition Leader Simon Halliday is an experienced ultra-endurance athlete and qualified expedition leader, having completed multi-day events in some of the world’s most demanding environments, including the Marathon des Sables, Ultra X Jordan, Al Andalus Trail and Mont Blanc. Rory Coleman MDS Legend | Running Coach | Ultra-Endurance Athlete A true MDS legend, Rory Coleman has completed 19 MDS Legendary editions and is preparing for his incredible 20th. One of the most experienced figures in the MDS community, Rory is also a renowned running coach and ultra-endurance athlete. Sara Storey Ultra Runner | Multi-Stage Endurance Athlete | World Record Adventurer Sara is an accomplished ultra and multi-day endurance runner who completed seven ultras in 2025, including a 2nd finish at the Marathon des Sables. In February 2026, she was part of the team that completed the World’s Highest Marathon expedition on Ojos del Salado in Chile, starting at 6,893 metres, and was the only woman to complete the record attempt. With further guest support crew, recent MDS finishers, expert sessions, workshops and yes, two guided run/walks on Saturday and Sunday, this is a weeked designed to accelerate your physical, mental and practical preparation for start line readiness.
