Wildlife Meadow Creation, Sticklepath

Join us to transform Oak Tree Green into a wildlife-friendly space. Join the West Devon Wildlife Warden Scheme, Sticklepath Parish Council and Parklife South West as we transform Oak Tree Green into a wildlife-friendly space. We are delighted to be working with Sticklepath Parish Council during their village workday to transform Oak Tree Green, creating new habitats for local wildlife and improving the space for residents, adding life and colour. This is a wonderful opportunity to dive in, work hands-on, and gain real experience optimising an area for wildlife by creating new areas of wildlife meadow, tree planting and more. We will create new areas of wildlife meadow by mowing, raking and scarifying areas of ground. We will then proceed with sowing wildflower seeds sourced from Goren Farm and Yellow Rattle (Rhinanthus minor) seeds recently harvested from Hope Wood, the new community woodland and nature recovery site at South Brent. The combination of perennial wildflowers and grasses will help establish a biodiverse habitat which supports key pollinators, including bees and butterflies, as well as small mammals. This event will be a fantastic opportunity to get some fresh air, meet new people, and make a positive impact on the environment. No experience is necessary - just bring your enthusiasm and willingness to get involved. We'll bring the tools and equipment needed for the day but bring your own spade if you have one. Don't forget to wear appropriate outdoor clothing, sturdy footwear and waterproofs and wellies for a wet day. Remember to bring plenty of water and a packed lunch if you are planning to stay the whole day. Sticklepath Village Hall will be open, providing hot drinks and toilet facilities.
