Start playing whole ones. If you know your open chords and you've got a few barre chords under your fingers, you've got everything you need to play hundreds of songs. What's often missing is the know-how to pick up a chord chart and turn it into music that sounds right. In this relaxed, hands-on group session, we'll learn a complete song together from a lead sheet, the same kind of chart working musicians use every day. By the end, you'll have played it start to finish as a group, and you'll know how to tackle the next song on your own. What you'll learn • How to read a lead sheet: chord symbols, bar lines, repeats, endings and song structure • Rhythm and strumming that actually fits the song, not just "down, down, down" • Smooth chord changes, including moving in and out of barre chords • How to count yourself in, keep time and stay together with other players • A simple approach you can use to learn any song from a chart Who it's for Guitarists who are comfortable with open chords and can play some barre chords, even if they're still a bit wobbly.
