Sleepers in the Snow

Joanne Harris interviewed by Robert Edgar Few novels have bewitched readers quite like Chocolat. Joanne Harris's modern classic became an international bestseller before enchanting cinema audiences in the Oscar-nominated film starring Juliette Binoche and Johnny Depp. More than 25 years on, she returns to the world that made her name with Vianne – the long-awaited prequel that uncovers the secrets, sorrows and magic behind one of contemporary fiction's most unforgettable heroines. But Harris has never been a writer to stay in one lane. Her latest novel, Sleepers in the Snow, ventures into deliciously darker territory: a haunting winter tale of an isolated house on the moors, long-buried secrets and the chilling truth that "the ghosts of ourselves are the cruellest and most frightening of all." Awarded an MBE for services to literature and a former Chair of the Society of Authors, Joanne Harris remains one of Britain's most imaginative and captivating storytellers. She’s interviewed by Professor Robert Edgar, writer, broadcaster and leading expert on hauntology and folk horror. Come for the chocolate, stay for the chills.
