Junior Chinese Knife Throwing Workshop

Try something different at our Junior Chinese Knife Throwing Workshop. This supervised introduction to Feijian, Chinese martial knife throwing, is for ages 8 to 16. Beginners are welcome and all throwing equipment is provided. Event details • Date: Saturday 21st November 2026 • Time: 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. • Location: Rochford Martial Arts Academy, Unit C, Ashingdon Road, Rochford, SS4 1RG • Age range: 8 to 16 What happens during the session? The workshop begins with a safety briefing covering basic range safety, safe throwing and retrieval procedures. Juniors then practise throwing mechanics, distance control and accuracy with supervision and coaching suited to their experience. The emphasis is on listening, learning and making steady progress. First-time participants and returning juniors are welcome. More than hitting the target This workshop gives juniors an opportunity to practise: • Focus and concentration: listening carefully and paying attention to each attempt. • Coordination and control: working on balance, timing and accuracy. • Patience and persistence: learning from missed throws and making gradual improvements. • Responsible behaviour: respecting equipment, following instructions and working within clear boundaries. Your instructor The session is led by Gavin King of Rochford Martial Arts Academy, whose teaching includes Chinese martial arts and traditional weapons practice. Planning your visit Please arrive at 8:50 a.m., ten minutes before the 9:00 a.m. start. Parking is directly outside the academy. Children can be dropped off for the workshop, and parents and guardians are welcome to stay and watch if they wish. If you are dropping your child off, please return to the academy to collect them when the session finishes at 10:30 a.m. Please wear comfortable clothing that allows easy movement and closed-toe shoes. Open-toe footwear is not permitted. All throwing equipment is provided.
