The Last Drop: Fortified and Sweets

Please find our tastings for Greenwich here. “Any man who eats dessert is not drinking enough.” — Ernest Hemingway Often overlooked until the end of a meal, sweet and fortified wines offer some of the most fascinating and complex expressions in the wine world. From the honeyed intensity of botrytised Sauternes and the crystalline sweetness of Auslese Riesling to the nutty, oxidative depths of solera-aged Sherry and the rich, gently baked character of Madeira, these are wines shaped by patience, tradition and time. Tonight, we will be venturing near and far to discover both sweetness and savour to serve as a reminder that the final throws of an excellent meal can often be the most memorable. Our shop tastings start at 7.30pm and run for approximately one-and-a-half to two hours. We will taste 6-8 wines on a theme, and bread, cheese and charcuterie is provided to match with the wines. Due to the communal nature of the tasting, we are unable to cater for dietary requirements.
