Hive Classics at St Giles

What happens when you merge two fabulous singer-songwriters with the City of Stoke-on-Trent Symphony Orchestra? For one special night, Julia Mosley and Hannah Sophie bring their songs to St Giles’ Church, Newcastle-under-Lyme, where they will be transformed through brand new orchestral arrangements performed live by the City of Stoke-on-Trent Symphony Orchestra (CSSO). This is Hive Classics: a collaboration between artists and musicians from different parts of the music world, taking familiar songs somewhere completely new. Julia Mosley’s distinctive, atmospheric songwriting and powerful vocals meet the intimate, emotionally driven songs of Hannah Sophie, with both artists performing alongside the orchestra in arrangements created especially for this event. Expect familiar songs, but not quite as you know them. The evening will showcase the original artists alongside the scale, texture and drama of a live orchestra, creating something that sits somewhere between a gig, a concert and a musical experiment. And there is no better setting for it than St Giles’ Church, with its atmosphere and acoustics adding another dimension to the performance. Hannah Sophie A Stoke-on-Trent based singer-songwriter whose piano-led songs explore themes including love, heartbreak and mental health, combining vulnerable songwriting with powerful vocals and soft, cinematic melodies. City of Stoke-on-Trent Symphony Orchestra Stoke-on-Trent's resident professional symphony orchestra, bringing together professional musicians for concerts, community events and innovative musical experiences across the region.
