WhatsApp 07968 585224 Escape to the wild western side of the Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) for a long weekend of remote mountain hiking, dramatic ridges, glacial lakes and some of the best scenery in South Wales. Our base gives us access to the Black Mountain – Y Mynydd Du, a much quieter and wilder part of the National Park. Over the weekend we’ll tackle two fantastic mountain routes, including Fan Brycheiniog and the Dragon’s Back, followed by a second day exploring the remote hills and valleys of the Black Mountain. Expect big landscapes, sweeping escarpments, challenging climbs and proper mountain days away from the busier trails. 🕓 WEEKEND SCHEDULE FRIDAY 28 MAY Travel to South Wales, arrive at our accommodation, settle in and meet the group. A relaxed evening before our first mountain day on Saturday. SATURDAY 29 MAY – FAN BRYCHEINIOG & THE DRAGON’S BACK 🥾 Our first hike takes us deep into the Carmarthen Fans, Starting at from the bunkhouse, we head into wild mountain country towards Llyn y Fan Fach, one of the most spectacular glacial lakes in the Bannau Brycheiniog. From the lake we climb onto the magnificent high escarpment, with superb ridge walking around Picws Du and Fan Brycheiniog and huge views across the surrounding valleys and mountains. This forms part of the legendary Dragon’s Back route across Wales, giving us a taste of one of the country’s great mountain journeys. 16 km 780m accent, approx 5.5 hours hiking excluding breaks, SUNDAY 30 MAY – REMOTE HILLS & VALLEYS OF THE BLACK MOUNTAIN 🥾 Sunday takes us into an even quieter part of Y Mynydd Du, following the Trail Magazine route shown on your second map. This is the Black Mountain at its wildest: remote valleys, broad ridges, open moorland and long stretches of mountain where we may see very few other walkers.
