Cynefin Digidol: Retro Computing Workshop for Adults

On request, a workshop for adults to step back in computing history with Cynefin Digidol! Hands-on with the tech that built today Join us to explore the machines that shaped our digital world, and the part Wales played in building it. This 90-minute session opens with a short talk on the heritage of computing in Wales: the people and industries behind it, where Welsh technology stands today, and where it might go next. You’ll then get hands-on with real home computers from the 1980s, the machines that made it and the ones that didn’t. Try the BBC Micro that filled UK classrooms, and the Dragon 32, designed and built just down the road in Port Talbot, whose story shows how quickly fortunes turned in the early home computer market. Whether you grew up with these machines, worked in the industry, or are simply curious about how we got from room-sized computers to the phone in your pocket, come along and celebrate what Wales has made: past, present, and future. For adults. No experience needed, and all equipment is provided.
