Medicinal Mushroom Workshop

Learn to identify medicinal mushrooms growing locally and make your own immune-regulating medicine to take home. Not plants, not animals – fungi belong to a kingdom of their own, with unique properties and fascinating benefits for our health and wellbeing. In this three-hour practical workshop, we’ll begin with a short identification walk to discover medicinally active mushrooms growing locally. We’ll explore their identification, properties and uses, and the important role they play in supporting our wellbeing. You’ll discover how to extract their beneficial compounds effectively and preserve them in preparations that are easy to use. By the end of the workshop, you’ll feel more confident identifying medicinal mushrooms and have the knowledge and skills to make your own high-quality preparations at home. You’ll also take home a medicinal mushroom preparation that we’ll make together on the day. About Your Tutor: Jody James My journey into the world of fungi began as a teenager when, during an early foraging adventure, I stumbled across a field of enormous horse mushrooms. I’ve been a keen explorer ever since! Having studied Herbal Medicine at university, I’ve spent over ten years teaching medicinal and edible foraging. More recently, following further specialist study, I’ve become a member of the UK and Ireland Mycotherapy Practitioners Register, enabling me to prescribe medicinal mushrooms as part of my practice. I’m enormously grateful to all the beings of the fungal world who keep popping up in my life and ensuring I continue exploring the forests and fields!
