Tidal x Alma: Workshop 05 - Ikigui workshop for creative by Natalie is a hands-on workshop to help creatives reveal their own compass. Ever feel like you're making work, but have'tt quite pinned down why, and you’re struggling to work out which direction you are heading? This workshop uses Ikigai, the Japanese concept of “a reason for being” to help you explore, excavate, and start to articulate the core of your creative purpose. Ikigai sits at the intersection of what you love, what you're good at, what the world needs, and what you can be paid for, and finding that sweet spot is often the first real step towards a working life that feels aligned. This isn't just a reflective exercise. The aim is to reveal your own internal compass, something that gives you real clarity about your work and the direction you want it to take. Once that compass is visible, it becomes a tool: something to help you spot what would genuinely fuel you and bring you joy, something you can use to articulate your purpose to others, and something to hold onto when adversity tests your resolve. What we will do: • Guided free-writing and reflection exercises to surface what genuinely lights you up, what comes naturally to you, and what you want your work to contribute to the world • An idea-generating exercise, building directly on what surfaces in your free-writing, to help spark new and interesting ideas for your work, practice, and creative associations • A creative session where you'lll begin to illustrate your purpose statement through paint, collage, drawing, or whatever medium suits you • You'll leave with a started (and, time permitting, finished) purpose statement of your own compass for clarity, direction, and staying grounded when things get tough This session is run with a strong creative bias - it's a hands-on, expressive version of a process. Natalie has honed and adapted specifically for individual creatives. Please bring snacks and drinks if you would like.
