Fused Glass Workshop

Be inspired by the beautiful stained glass in the Abbey and create your own seasonal piece of art. Working with tutor Matt Nickels you will learn through exploring and experimentation how to create a beautiful coloured piece of fused glass. All materials will be provided. Matt Nickels grew up around Stained Glass, being introduced to the craft from an early age through his parents established Stained Glass business. Matt has had an exciting career so far, always gaining unique experience along the way. After beginning at his parents stained glass business, Matt moved on and set up his own glass workshop before joining York Glaziers Trust, the stained glass studio connected to York Minster Cathedral. Matt now works on bespoke projects through Matt Nickels Stained Glass and he is co-director at Northern Lights Stained Glass which specializes in Icon accredited stained glass conservation and large scale works - www.northernlightsstainedglass.co.uk In addition to Matt’s stained glass work in the studio and on-site, he also makes a regular appearance on the BBC One TV show The Repair Shop, as their resident glass and stained glass expert. Matt has been part of the show since Season 2, and continues to be called on for any glass and stained glass needs down at the barn. We want as many people as possible to have the opportunity to be creatively inspired by Selby Abbey. For that reason, we ask that if you have already enjoyed one of our free craft workshops you refrain from booking another to let other people enjoy the experience.
