In Person Workshop: Exploring Fantasy Florals with Jessica Grady (York)

With Jessica Grady, an in-person workshop at Hobbycraft York on 3 October from 10:00am-12:30pm Join embroidery artist Jessica Grady for a colourful and creative workshop exploring floral designs using embellishments and hand stitch. You will be working on your own fantasy floral artwork design using Jessica's samples and ideas to inspire you. Jessica will show you how you can utilise a range of mixed media materials to create your floral design including recycled sequins and painted washers as well as more traditional beads, buttons and embellishments. All these elements will be added to your textile background with simple hand embroidery stitches, which will also add some decoration and pattern to your design. This workshop is suitable for all abilities. To note: • This event is for those aged 16 and over. • Cancellation and refunds given up to 7 days before the event takes place. No refunds will be given for cancellations under 7 days. Your Tutor Jess Grady is an embroidery artist and educator. Her original textiles are a bold and tactile exploration of colour and pattern through hand stitching and embellishment. She uses a combination of processes within all my embroideries including traditional hand embroidery techniques, hand dyeing, printing and embellished surfaces – that utilise unconventional and recycled materials such as painted metal washers, hand dyed plastic waste, packaging and stripped electric cables. These materials are transformed and manipulated to create intricate embellishments. This juxtaposition of unusual media with traditional techniques invites the viewer to look closer – creating curiosity.
