Join us for a guided city walk around Hong Kong Island city centre focused on women and girls’ safety, using Her City guidance to explore how urban spaces are experienced. Together, we’ll identify areas that feel unsafe, overlooked, or in need of improvement, and highlight opportunities for more inclusive design. Following the walk, we’ll host a feedback discussion to share insights and ideas, before wrapping up with informal networking and drinks. This is a great opportunity to contribute to shaping a safer, more inclusive city while connecting with others passionate about urban design. The route with include key stops at: • Lan Kwai Fong • Pottinger Street • Central MTR Entrance • Beside (on street level) Central-Mid-Levels Escalators • Tai Kwun - Parade Ground Along the way, participants will navigate Central's dynamic urban fabric, moving from bustling commercial and nightlife districts to well preserved heritage compounds. This route creates a direct comparison between different types of public spaces, highlighting contracts in pedestrian infrastructure, public realm quality, and our perception of safety, comfort, and belonging. Participants will work in small facilitated groups, using the seven Her City principles, including visibility, safety, wayfinding, and inclusion, to assess each location. Observations will be captured through focused visual documentation and the walk will conclude at Ryder’s office with a group feedback session, where key themes, shared experiences, and potential interventions will be discussed.
