Overbooked September Book Club

Welcome back to Overbooked, the book club for the gal who does it all… but also deserves a Sunday afternoon off. Join us on Sunday, 27 September in Delahunt for an afternoon of books, wine, and great conversation. 📖 This month’s read: The Things We Never Say by Elizabeth Strout Artie Dam is a much-loved high school history teacher with a long marriage, good friends and a seemingly happy life. But beneath the surface, he’s struggling with loneliness and questions about how well we really know the people closest to us. When a long-kept family secret comes to light, Artie is forced to reconsider his relationships, his past and what it means to truly know another person. ✨ The book swap is back! Bring along a book you’ve loved (or one that’s been sitting on your shelf waiting for a new home) and swap it for something new-to-you. Participation is completely optional, but it’s always a favourite part of the afternoon. 🍷 Optional add-on: Take-home wine of the month This month we're drinking La Cabane de Jeanne from Domaine Jefferies Bories, a naturally-made white from Caux in the Languedoc. Made from Grenache Blanc, Marsanne, Terret Blanc and Terret Rosé. The Marsanne grapes undergo a 9-day skin maceration, while other varieties are directly pressed, all naturally fermented with indigenous yeasts. It matures gently for 11 months on lees, developing complexity and depth without added sulfites. Expect something fresh, mineral and aromatic, with notes of summer woods, raspberry tea and kiwi skin.
