Full description from organizer

A professional development morning exploring intergenerational trauma and supporting families affected by experiences of loss and trauma. Youngballymun is delighted to host a special professional development morning with Dr Amanda Jones on the topic: “When the roots of loss and trauma run deep” This thought-provoking workshop will offer practitioners a supportive space to come together and reflect on intergenerational trauma, particularly when working with families whose experiences of loss and trauma may run deep. The morning will provide opportunities for professional learning, reflection and shared discussion with colleagues who support parents, babies and families. ABOUT THE SPEAKER Dr Amanda Jones is a Consultant Perinatal Psychotherapist and an internationally respected leader in parent–infant psychotherapy. She lectures nationally and internationally on infant mental health, early relationships and therapeutic work with parents and babies. Trained as a systemic therapist, Dr Jones completed her doctoral research at the Tavistock Centre, exploring how parents’ unconscious defensive processes can affect infant development. She is widely recognised for her contribution to the award-winning Help Me Love My Baby documentaries, produced with the Anna Freud Centre, and the Breakdown or Breakthrough series developed with the NSPCC. WHO SHOULD ATTEND? This event is for professionals who support: • Parents and caregivers • Babies and young children • Families affected by loss or trauma • Infant and early childhood mental health • Parent–infant relationships
