Ottobre Book Club

Come funziona: A settembre leggiamo Pecorelle smarrite, poi il 3 ottobre ci troviamo da Atto Caffè e ne parliamo insieme. Niente presentazioni formali e niente bisogno di essere esperte: l’idea è sederci intorno a un tavolo, parlare del libro, delle cose che ci hanno fatto ridere, arrabbiare o pensare, e vedere dove ci porta la conversazione. Il book club è pensato anche per chi arriva da sola. Non è necessario conoscere già qualcuno per partecipare: creiamo uno spazio in cui sia naturale iniziare a parlare, conoscere le altre persone e inserirsi nella conversazione. Il libro si può leggere in italiano o in inglese. Il libro: Immagina una famiglia già abbastanza incasinata: un matrimonio aperto che sta andando a pezzi, tre figlie completamente diverse tra loro e una cittadina dove sembra esserci qualcosa di molto strano sotto la superficie. Aggiungi un gruppo di sostegno religioso, una possibile cospirazione e una quantità decisamente poco normale di caos. Questo è Pecorelle smarrite. È strano, divertente, un po’ folle e, sotto tutto questo, parla anche di famiglia, solitudine e del bisogno di trovare il proprio posto. Cosa è incluso: Un calice di vino, stuzzichini, l’accesso all’evento privato e una serata per conoscere persone nuove e, soprattutto, finalmente poter dire ad alta voce tutto quello che ti è passato per la testa mentre leggevi. Accapo Club: è uno spazio per sole donne. Per chi ama leggere e spesso non ha nessuno con cui parlarne, per chi si è trasferita a Milano da poco e sta cercando persone nuove, e per chi semplicemente ha voglia di fare qualcosa di diverso e non ha paura di uscire dalla propria comfort zone. Il club è pensato per rendere facile conoscere persone nuove anche quando si arriva da sole. Nel club si parla italiano e inglese, e nessuno dei due è un requisito. Chi c’è dietro Accapo Club: Mi chiamo Nathalie. A Sydney, dove ho vissuto un anno, ho fondato un book club per conoscere persone che amassero leggere quanto me. The Italian edition was released on September 8th by Gramma Feltrinelli, translated by Marco Rossari. How it works: Throughout September, we read Pecorelle smarrite, and on October 3rd we’ll meet at Atto Caffè to talk about it together. No formal presentations, and definitely no need to be a book expert: the idea is to sit around a table, talk about the things that made us laugh, annoyed us or made us think, and see where the conversation takes us. The book club is also designed for anyone coming alone. You don’t need to know anyone beforehand: we create a space where it feels natural to start talking, meet new people and find your way into the conversation. You can read the book in Italian or English. The book: Imagine a family that’s already pretty messed up: an open marriage that is slowly falling apart, three daughters who couldn’t be more different from one another, and a town where something seems to be going on beneath the surface. Add a religious support group, a possible conspiracy and a frankly unreasonable amount of chaos. This is Pecorelle smarrite. It’s strange, funny, a little bit unhinged and, underneath all of that, also about family, loneliness and the need to find where you belong. What’s included: A glass of wine, small bites, access to the private event, and an evening to meet new people and, most importantly, finally say out loud everything that went through your head while reading. Accapo Club: is a space for women only. For anyone who loves reading and often has no one to talk about books with, for anyone who recently moved to Milan and is looking to meet new people, and for anyone who simply feels like doing something different and stepping outside their comfort zone. The club is designed to make it easy to meet new people, even when you come alone. We speak both Italian and English at the club, and neither is a requirement. Who’s behind Accapo Club: My name is Nathalie. While living in Sydney for a year, I started a book club to meet people who loved reading as much as I did.
