Impact Osaka Hackathon 2026: Autonomous Agents for Real-World Impact Build AI agents that do, not just respond. Date: October 4, 2026Venue: Osaka, Japan (日本語は下にあります) Event Overview Impact Osaka 2026 is an international Autonomous Agents Hackathon bringing together students, developers, researchers, founders, designers, AI engineers, and innovation enthusiasts to build practical AI agents for real-world challenges. AI is rapidly evolving beyond systems that simply answer questions. Autonomous agents can understand objectives, reason, plan, use tools and APIs, make decisions, execute workflows, and complete real tasks with human collaboration. This is not just a coding competition. It is a practical buildathon where participants create AI systems that move beyond conversation and deliver execution. Teams will work on ideas that can support individuals, businesses, developers, organizations, communities, and industries in Japan and beyond. Osaka represents entrepreneurship, commerce, creativity, technology, and international connection. Impact Osaka brings this energy together with the next generation of AI builders to create autonomous systems that are practical, useful, scalable, and grounded in real needs. Core Theme Autonomous Agents for Real-World Impact Participants will build AI-powered agents capable of reasoning, planning, using tools, making decisions, and completing meaningful tasks. The future of AI is not just conversation. It is execution. Why Autonomous Agents? Traditional AI answers questions. Autonomous agents can understand goals, plan multi-step tasks, use APIs and external tools, make decisions, automate workflows, take actions, and collaborate with humans. At Impact Osaka 2026, participants will explore how autonomous AI systems can solve practical problems across business, productivity, careers, software development, enterprise operations, and society. Challenge Areas 1. Agentic Business Build sales agents, marketing agents, operations agents, customer support agents, research agents, and intelligent business automation systems. Goal: Help startups, SMEs, and companies automate complex workflows and work faster with AI. 2. Personal AI Build productivity agents, learning assistants, career agents, travel agents, research assistants, and personal workflow systems. Goal: Create AI assistants that do more than answer questions and can actively help people complete meaningful tasks. 3. Developer Agents Build coding agents, testing agents, debugging assistants, documentation systems, deployment agents, and engineering automation tools. Goal: Help developers research, build, test, debug, and ship products more efficiently. 4. Enterprise Agents Build internal knowledge agents, document processing systems, data analysis agents, operations agents, and enterprise workflow automation. Goal: Help organizations transform repetitive and complex processes into intelligent AI-powered workflows. 5. Social Impact Agents Build solutions for education, accessibility, communities, public services, sustainability, career access, and other social challenges. Goal: Use autonomous AI to create meaningful value for people and communities. 6. Open Agent Track (Wildcard) Have a strong problem that is not listed above? If it: Solves a real problem Uses AI meaningfully Demonstrates autonomous execution Has a clear impact path You are welcome to pitch and build it. What Makes This Hackathon Different Execution > ConversationTeams should build AI that performs useful tasks, not simply generates responses. Vibe Coding FriendlyUse AI copilots, LLMs, APIs, agent frameworks, automation platforms, low-code tools, or custom systems, whatever helps you move quickly from idea to working prototype. Japan + Global ContextBuild solutions that can create value in Japan while having the potential to scale internationally. Interdisciplinary TeamsDevelopers, designers, founders, researchers, students, business thinkers, and domain experts are all valued. Build in 6 HoursTeams will move rapidly from problem identification to a functional autonomous agent. Deliverables Each team will submit: A working prototype, web app, system, or functional demo A clear problem statement and target users An explanation of what the autonomous agent actually does AI architecture and tool/API overview A demonstration of real execution Deployment or scalability vision Judging Criteria Problem Relevance Innovation Agent Capability Technical Execution Business or Impact Potential Judges will focus on whether the system genuinely performs useful work and whether the solution has the potential to continue beyond the hackathon. Who Should Join Students and researchers Developers and AI engineers Startup founders and early builders Designers and product thinkers Business and operations professionals Automation specialists Domain experts Anyone interested in building practical autonomous AI systems No prior hackathon experience required, only curiosity, creativity, and the willingness to build.
