Great Koala Count –Sunday 11th October, Whites Hill Reserve

The Koala Count is on again! Join us at Whites Hill Reserve on the the morning of Sunday 11th October for the Great Koala Count! Great Koala Count – Whites Hill Reserve Sunday 11 October 2026, 7:00 am for a 7:30 am start Whites Hill Reserve Play Park, 258 Boundary Road, Camp Hill QLD 4152 Join the Whites Hill – Pine Mountain Community Group Inc (WHPMCG) for the Great Koala Count at Whites Hill Reserve. Over the past few years, WHPMCG, together with other local groups and community members, has conducted large-scale koala counts throughout Whites Hill Reserve to help build a picture of the local koala population. Participants will split into approximately six teams, each covering a different area of the reserve during a 1.5-hour guided survey. For the protection of the reserve and its wildlife, all groups will remain on designated tracks at all times. Previous Great Koala Counts • October 2023 – 45 koalas • May 2025 – 23 koalas • October 2025 – 44 koalas How many will we find this October? Event Schedule 7:00 am – Meet at the Band Stand beside the children’s playground 7:30 am – Koala Count begins 9:00 am – Groups return to the meeting point Following the count, stay for a friendly morning tea, where we will tally the results, share sightings and survey sheets, hear some short presentations and enjoy stalls and prize draws. Registration: Adults: $8, Children: $5 Proceeds from registrations will be donated to local koala rescue groups. By taking part, you’ll be contributing to community efforts to record koala sightings and build our understanding of the koalas living within Whites Hill Reserve. Please remember: no pets please. Some trails are unsealed, so wear sturdy shoes. Bring a water bottle and binoculars if you have them! Important information: • Under 16's to have guardian present and supervising • This is an outdoor event in a bushland environment. Please wear closed-in shoes, a broad-brimmed hat, a shirt with sleeves, and bring a water bottle. • Please read the safety information in the confirmation email carefully • We do not accept bookings for more than 5 people.
