OSCAM celebrates their nine year anniversary with music, food and a pop up exhibition by Fidelio Faustino 9 Years of OSCAM: Neti È Kon by Fidelio Faustino⁠ For nine years, OSCAM has been making space for diverse stories, new perspectives and talent to be seen and shared, rooted in Amsterdam Zuidoost and connected to makers and creatives across borders.⁠ Our official nine-year anniversary falls on November 25, but we start the party early. On Saturday 21 November, we're bringing everyone together to celebrate these past nine years the OSCAM way, with music, good company and a special pop-up exhibition spotlighting a talented creative from our community. As part of the celebrations, Photographer and director Fidelio Faustino presents the pop-up exhibition, Neti È Kon, translated to ‘The Night is Coming’ in Sranantongo. Faustino uses image-making to redefine what Black and Indigenous imagery can mean, working from memory, spirituality and fantasy. His work examines nostalgia and belonging as feelings made rather than inherited. In this exhibition Faustino captures the spirit of the night in Surinam, the hours that remind him of home. He invites the viewer to reflect on their own perceptions of what home really is. Geworteld in Amsterdam Zuidoost en verbonden met makers en creatieven over de grenzen heen.⁠ Onze officiële negende valt op 25 november, maar we beginnen het feest alvast eerder. Op zaterdag 21 november brengen we iedereen samen om deze afgelopen negen jaar op de OSCAM-manier te vieren, met muziek, goed gezelschap en een bijzondere pop-up tentoonstelling waarin een getalenteerde creative uit onze community centraal staat. Als onderdeel van de viering presenteert fotograaf en regisseur Fidelio Faustino de pop-up tentoonstelling Neti È Kon, wat in het Sranantongo vertaald kan worden als ‘De nacht komt eraan’. Met zijn beeldtaal onderzoekt Faustino nieuwe betekenissen van zwart en inheems beeldmateriaal, vanuit herinneringen, spiritualiteit en fantasie. Zijn werk verkent nostalgie en verbondenheid als gevoelens die gevormd worden, in plaats van geërfd. In deze tentoonstelling vangt Faustino de sfeer van de nacht in Suriname, de uren die hem aan thuis doen denken. Hij nodigt bezoekers uit om stil te staan bij hun eigen beeld van wat thuis eigenlijk betekent.
