Divorce & Separation in the NL - Helping the Children Through the Change

When children are involved, one of the hardest questions can be: ‘How do we tell them?” Separation can be one of the most emotionally difficult experiences a family goes through. When children are involved, one of the hardest questions can be: ‘How do we tell them?” This session focuses on the emotional side of separation and divorce – how to talk to children about what is happening, how to have age-appropriate conversations, and how to help children feel secure when so much around them is changing. We will explore some of the common emotional responses children may have, what they may need from both parents and how parents can communicate in a way that reduces fear, confusion and conflict. The aim is to help you understand what separation can mean emotionally for you and your children and how you can begin navigating it together.
