Auckland Heritage Festival: The Valley that fed a City (talk/seminar)

This Auckland Heritage Trail event features a 30-minute presentation by author Jessie Munro ('Voices of Belonging', 2016), tracing how the Wairoa river valley fed a growing city and gave rise to the village of Clevedon. The talk will be followed by a morning tea and an opportunity to explore the McNicol Homestead museum, a historic 19th century Victorian homestead, constructed from kauri that was milled on site. Participants are invited to walk the new Clevedon Village Heritage Trail, a self-guided walk connecting 19 sites across 6km through a village that grew around food production and continues to grow today. Start or end your day in Clevedon with a visit to the Clevedon Village Farmers Market (open 8am-1pm) or the Clevedon Village Craft Market (open 9am-2pm) Spaces limited to 25. $20pp, under 15s free.
