Heartland Book Festival (October 3): Authors, Panels, Workshops & More

Spend the day at the Kansas City Public Library and hear from authors Tessa Bailey, Sierra Simone, Victoria Aveyard, and Soman Chainani. On October 3, the 4th annual Heartland Book Festival offers a full day of programming for readers and writers of all ages. Enjoy author talks, panel discussions, workshops, storytimes, book signings, regional vendors, food trucks, and more. Admission is free, but entry tickets are required. Featured Main Stage Authors Include: Tessa Bailey: Broken Rival [10 - 11 a.m.] - New York Times and USA Today-bestselling author Tessa Bailey has been described by Entertainment Weekly as the “Michelangelo of dirty talk,” for her spicy scenes. In conversation with romance author Sierra Simone, Bailey discusses her new book, Broken Rival, a time-travel romance about a high school girl stuck in the past and torn between two Kansas brothers. A Broken Rival photo line follows the event, with additional books by Bailey and Simone available for purchase on-site. Victoria Aveyard: Tempest [2 - 3 p.m.] - Bestselling authors Victoria Aveyard and Soman Chainani record an episode of their Plot Twist podcast. They discuss Aveyard’s latest novel, Tempest, the story of protagonist Cat Rose, also known as Widow Rose, the queen of a pirate tavern. When opposing forces close in on her people, she must decide how she will save her kingdom: Turn in the only man she’s ever loved — or hang.
