A exposição reúne a série American Road Trip, realizada em 2020, quando o fotógrafo regressou aos Estados Unidos sessenta anos após a sua primeira viagem pelo país, em diálogo com uma seleção de algumas das fotografias mais emblemáticas da sua carreira. Entre o documental e o íntimo, The Journey of an Icon celebra o legado de um fotógrafo cuja obra continua a inspirar gerações e a desafiar-nos a olhar o mundo com maior atenção, curiosidade e empatia. Over the course of more than six decades, Hoepker travelled the world with a discreet yet profoundly human gaze, creating images that have become part of our collective memory. The exhibition brings together the American Road Trip series, produced in 2020, when the photographer returned to the United States sixty years after his first journey across the country, alongside a selection of some of the most iconic photographs from throughout his career. Balancing the documentary and the intimate, The Journey of an Icon celebrates the legacy of a photographer whose work continues to inspire generations and encourages us to look at the world with greater attention, curiosity, and empathy.
