Urban Sketching Workshop in Lisbon

Explore the city with a local artist! Learn simple urban sketching techniques and create your own Lisbon-inspired artwork. In this relaxed, beginner-friendly urban sketching workshop, we’ll explore Lisbon with a sketchbook in hand, observing the city’s architecture, streets, details and everyday life through drawing. You don’t need to be an experienced artist. The workshop is designed to be accessible and pressure-free, whether you’re completely new to sketching or simply want to explore a more spontaneous way of drawing. We’ll work with simple sketching techniques and learn how to capture the character of a place without worrying about creating a “perfect” drawing. The focus is on observation, experimentation and enjoying the creative process. What we'll do • Learn simple urban sketching techniques and ways to approach a scene • Experiment with composition, perspective, line and colour • Create your own sketches throughout the session • Take time to observe the city, rather than simply passing through it The exact route may vary depending on weather and local conditions, but we’ll choose accessible locations with interesting views and plenty to draw. Materials All essential sketching materials are provided, so you can simply show up and draw. If you have a favourite sketchbook, pen or watercolour set, you’re very welcome to bring it along too. I’ve been working professionally with art and creative education since 2016, developing workshops and creative experiences for people of different ages, backgrounds and skill levels. Over the past year, I’ve hosted 400+ art sessions with participants from around the world, working with local studios, creative spaces, hostels, retreats and independent groups. I believe everyone is creative, and that art should be accessible, enjoyable and free from the pressure of being “good at it.” My workshops are designed to help you disconnect from your routine, experiment and enjoy the process of making something with your own hands.
