BKKCAW 2026 | Powering Growth, Polluting Communities

Across Asia, communities are increasingly raising concerns about the air pollution and public health impacts associated with gas-fired power plants. While these projects are often presented as part of the energy transition, affected communities continue to raise questions around air quality, environmental monitoring, public participation, and accountability. This event will bring together community advocates, civil society organisations, researchers, and campaigners from across the region to share key insights from campaigns addressing gas power pollution and community health impacts. Through a short panel discussion and breakout sessions, participants will explore how communities are responding to pollution concerns, compare approaches to monitoring and accountability, and identify opportunities for collaboration.
