Collecting and Saving Seeds for Perennial Gardens - Session #1

Location: NC Cooperative Extension , Buncombe County Center, 49 Mount Carmel Road , Asheville, NC 28806 Presenters: Barb Harrison, Extension Master GardenerSM Volunteer Join us for a hands-on workshop on saving seeds from perennial flowers and preparing them for next year’s garden. Seed saving is a simple, rewarding autumn activity that can help you grow more plants and enjoy a more beautiful garden season after season. Through a brief presentation and guided practice, participants will learn the basics of harvesting, cleaning, preparing, and storing seeds from a variety of native perennial flowers collected from The Learning Garden. We will also discuss special treatments some native plant seeds need before planting. Each participant will have the opportunity to prepare seeds to take home and grow next year.
