In this interactive class, you will learn how to use darts to deal with the excess fabric in the waist of your pants while maintaining their overall shape and fit. These techniques are a great solution for pants that fit well through the hips and legs but have unwanted gaping or extra room at the waist. What You’ll Do • Learn how to assess the fit of your pants and determine how much excess needs to be removed. • Learn how to properly mark and position darts for a balanced, flattering fit. • Learn how to press and finish your darts for a clean, professional-looking result. • Gain confidence using your sewing machine to make simple garment alterations. • Hands on: Practice sewing darts to shape the waist and remove excess fabric, as much as time allows. What to Bring Please bring one pair of jeans to practice on. All necessary sewing tools, machines, and standard matching threads are fully provided for the workshop but feel free to bring your own jeans/denim needle and denim thread for an exact match. If your garment requires specialty thread or additional supplies, those items may be available for purchase in the showroom on the day of the class.
