Full description from organizer

dadageek and Fusebox Present: VOLUMES by Ezra Masch December 11 - 13, 2026 4 performances over 3 days dadaLab - 2008 Alexander Ave. ATX VOLUMES is an immersive audio-visual installation and performance series created by multi-disciplinary artist Ezra Masch. Using live instrumental sound, the ongoing project activates architectural-scale, site-specific lighting environments in performance spaces across the US and abroad. In each setting, local musicians and composers explore the connection between sound, light, and space. The interplay shapes each performer’s creative process and changes how the audience perceives sound and image. This December, Masch will build a brand new interactive VOLUMES installation at dadaLab in East Austin. Over three days, the series will feature collaborations with Texas-based artists including Lunar RAE, Sometimes A Legend, James Adkins, Adam Jackson, Toto Miranda, Thor Harris, and Brannen Temple. Since its debut, VOLUMES has been installed in museums, galleries, and unconventional spaces across the US. Past presentations include the Ringling Museum in Sarasota, where 66 drummers played the lights over a month-long run; Icebox Project Space in Philadelphia; Co-Lab Projects in Austin, where the installation filled a 40-foot concrete culvert; the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in Richmond; and the Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts in Omaha, a four-month exhibition in which each performance was recorded and layered into the installation. Each version is built for its site, so no two look or sound the same. The newest iteration of VOLUMES at dadaLab will feature new instruments/interactions, along with new approaches to mapping sound with color. Performances: Friday, December 11 Doors @ 7p | Performances at 7:30p Featuring Sometimes A Legend and James Adkins Saturday, December 12 (Two showings) Doors @ 5p | Show at 5:30p Doors @ 8p | Show at 8:30p Featuring performances by Lunar RAE, Adam Jackson, and Toto Miranda Sunday, December 13 Doors @ 4p | Performances at 4:30p Featuring performances by Thor Harris and Brannen Temple Sunday will feature an open kit jam! We connect artists and audiences through rich artistic experiences situated across the city, ranging from intimate galleries and theaters to unexpected sites like basketball courts, parking garages, sides of buildings, and strange empty lots. Through residencies, salons, year-round performances, and a city-wide biennial festival, Fusebox serves as a launching pad for artists whose work blurs disciplines, reimagines public space, and deepens the cultural life of Austin. Fusebox was founded in 2005 by a group of artists. That artist-led perspective continues to inform everything we do. dadageek is a non-profit community of immersive artists and electronic musicians.
