Rory Holcomb: Cavey Tomb's Locker

Cavey Tomb's LockerNight Owl Gallery @ Snake Hill presents an exhibition of (mostly) new work by Baltimore-based artist Rory Holcomb. Strange, unsettling and somehow playful, Rory Holcomb’s paintings and illustrations occupy the uncomfortable space between horror and humor. Grim, claustrophobic figures twist and contort across the surface, evoking the visual language of horror films, grotesque anatomy, and the strange ways our bodies carry memories of the people and experiences that shape us. Holcomb is interested in social ties and memory, exploring the ways relationships can be intimate, awkward, uncomfortable, absurd, and sometimes downright horrifying. Their figures often feel trapped together (or trapped within themselves...) creating scenes that are simultaneously unsettling and strangely relatable. Beneath the darkness is a sharp sense of humor that keeps the work from taking itself too seriously. Based in Baltimore, Holcomb has become an active presence in the local art community, exhibiting both independently and alongside other artists. Their work was previously featured in a 2025 solo exhibition Vivisepultura at Night Owl Gallery, followed by the Threaded exhibition at Red Emma’s in April 2026 and a feature on LED Baltimore in August 2026. Holcomb can also frequently be found participating as a vendor and exhibitor at local art markets throughout Baltimore. This exhibition continues Holcomb’s exploration of the body, memory, and human connection while pushing further into the strange, dark, and absurd. All work will be for sale, cash and carry.
