Turn awareness into action with a community cleanup and day of service at Church of the Reconciler in Birmingham. The work continues beyond the Summit. Join the City of Birmingham Office of the Mayor, Office of Unhoused Strategies, and community partners for Serve Birmingham: Community Cleanup & Day of Service, the service component of State of Homelessness 2026: Beyond Awareness to Action. Volunteers will come together at Church of the Reconciler to support projects designed to clean, refresh, and improve spaces that serve members of Birmingham's community. What Volunteers Will Do Projects may include: • Exterior cleanup and pressure washing • Landscaping and beautification • Vine and overgrowth removal • Painting and touch-up projects • Interior cleaning and organization • Kitchen and restroom deep cleaning • Alley and exterior wall cleanup • Additional projects identified by the site team Breakfast will be provided for volunteers, and registered participants will receive a volunteer T-shirt. Additional information regarding arrival time, parking, attire, project assignments, and what to bring will be shared with registered volunteers before the event. Who Can Participate? Everyone is welcome. You do not have to attend Friday's State of Homelessness Summit to volunteer on Saturday. Whether you're an individual, organization, faith community, business, student group, or simply a Birmingham resident who wants to serve, we invite you to join us. The State of Homelessness 2026 Community Learning Summit & Public Forum takes place on Friday and features community conversations, educational sessions, a keynote, and opportunities to learn more about homelessness and Birmingham's response. 👉 Register for Friday's Community Learning Summit & Public Forum Learn Friday. Serve Saturday. Move beyond awareness to action.
