Integrating Somatic Awareness and Expressive Arts in Clinical Practice

If you often hear clients saying, "I understand what's wrong but nothing's changing," then it may be time to invest in modalities that go beyond words. This experiential continuing education workshop introduces counselors to the foundational principles of somatic work and expressive arts therapy, exploring how body awareness, creativity, and embodied presence can deepen clinical practice and support trauma-informed care. Participants will gain a working understanding of somatic approaches and expressive therapy techniques while engaging in guided experiential activities that foster personal insight and practical application. Through creative expression, reflective practices, and small-group discussion, attendees will explore how these modalities can enhance therapeutic relationships and expand clinical interventions. Participants will leave with increased confidence integrating body-based and creative interventions in their own counseling practice. There will be a break for lunch!
