Join the IBO crew to learn about owls and owl banding research. A night under the stars at the Boise River Diane Moore Nature Center! Where: Intermountain Bird Observatory's Diane Moore Nature Center near the intersection of Warmsprings Ave x Highway 21 in Boise (see PDF map in your confirmation email) Join trained biologists from the Intermountain Bird Observatory as they catch, band, and release wild owls along the Boise River! This exciting event is part of a new migration research project focused on Saw-whet Owls and their use of the river corridor. Experience owl research in action beginning at sunset with net checks every 45 minutes. A short presentation by IBO crews will kick off the evening. You will learn about owl migration and conservation, and may see owls up close, and possibly assist with releasing them back into the wild. Bird banding is unpredictable. Please note the event is weather dependent and owl captures cannot be guaranteed. Donations help keep this vital research going—please consider giving online or at the door. All ages welcome! Important: No dogs, smoking, or vaping. Stay on trails to avoid poison ivy.
