RMP WORKSHOP - Music Theory: Advance Your Knowledge of the Language

Understand music as language with Jesse Ogle's practical course. Learn fundamentals for playing, improvising, and composing with confidence. Music Theory: Advance Your Knowledge of the Language Instructor: Jesse Ogle Schedule: Oct. 28th, Nov, 4,11,18 (4 weeks) Location: East Room Cost: $140 Music theory isn’t the science of music—it’s the language of music. This workshop is designed to help musicians understand how to speak, communicate, and think musically in a practical, approachable, and immediately useful way. Rather than getting bogged down in complicated concepts, participants will focus on the fundamentals that make music understandable. The course will examine how notes, scales, chords, keys, and harmony connect, giving students greater confidence when communicating with other musicians, learning songs, improvising, and writing music. This workshop simplifies music theory and removes the intimidation that often surrounds it. Participants will discover that theory is not about memorizing rules—it is about recognizing the patterns and relationships that make playing music easier and more enjoyable. Participants should bring an instrument of their choice and a device or notebook for taking notes.
