Join us at the Sumter County 4-H Water Goat Clean-Up Project, and help us eliminate litter in our local water ways! Join us for a community waterway cleanup at the Shot Pouch Greenway Trailhead by the YMCA of Sumter! Our monthly cleanups bring together neighbors, families, youth, schools, civic groups, businesses, and volunteers of all ages to protect our local waterways and keep the greenway clean, healthy, and welcoming. Sign up to make a difference and join us throughout the year as we work together to care for our community. What is a WaterGoat? A WaterGoat is a floating trash-collection system that helps capture litter and debris before it travels farther downstream. By collecting waste from the water, the WaterGoat supports cleaner waterways, protects wildlife, and gives our community a hands-on way to make a lasting environmental impact. This month’s cleanup includes a special Lunch and Learn at 12:00 p.m. Bring a packed lunch and join in the conversation as we learn more about this recent initiative and hear about its impact. The program will include youth reflections, insight from local experts, and a community-led discussion about what we can do next to support cleaner, healthier waterways. Whether you are joining as an individual, family, group, organization, or first-time volunteer, you are invited. Come lend a hand, bring your lunch, learn something new, and be part of the solution.
