Lessons from the Pennsylvania Horticulural Society Parks are often thought of as places for recreation and leisure, but they can also play an important role in making communities safer. Matt Rader (ARCH ’01), President of the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society, will discuss his organization’s work cleaning and greening vacant lots, an approach that research has shown can significantly reduce firearm violence in surrounding areas. Join us to learn more about this innovative approach to public safety and how its lessons could be applied in communities across Virginia and beyond.
