En Plein Air: Outdoor Painting at Lula Lake

Join area artists for a day of outdoor painting at Lula Lake! All experience levels welcome—bring your supplies and enjoy the scenery. En plein air simply means painting outdoors, directly from the landscape. This is not an art class or guided workshop—it’s an opportunity for artists of all experience levels to gather, enjoy the scenery, and paint together. We will be painting between two scenic locations: • Rock Creek Meadow: Set up your easel in the meadow next to Rock Creek. • Lula Lake: Walk approximately 1 mile along a level gravel path to paint beside scenic Lula Lake. Picnic tables are available at both locations. What to Bring • Your own art supplies and materials • Closed-toe shoes • Plenty of water for yourself and for painting (there is no water source available on site). Come enjoy the landscape, meet fellow artists, and spend some time painting in the outdoors! About the Guide: Heidi Fawn Wilson is a Lookout Mountain artist with a B.F.A. in Graphic Design and an M.A.T. in Visual Arts Education. After nearly a decade as an art educator, she transitioned to working as a full-time artist. Her oil, watercolor, and acrylic paintings are inspired by local landmarks, Appalachian scenery, and the familiar places that hold our memories. Her work celebrates nostalgia, connection, and the feeling of home. Important Info. Please read all the way through! Location: 5000 Lula Lake Road, Lookout Mountain GA 30750. Arrival Time: The gate will open at 9:30 a.m. ET. Please arrive no later than 10:00 a.m. The gate will close at 10:00 a.m., and anyone arriving after that time will not be permitted to enter. Registration: Registration is required. This is a free event, but please consider making a donation at checkout using the "add on" option. Donations go directly back to maintaining the trails owned by Lula Lake Land Trust, a conservation-focused non-profit organization working hard to protect over 4,000 acres of land on Lookout Mountain, GA.
