On August 12, 2025, Caitlin's life changed when she was diagnosed with Antisynthetase Syndrome, a rare and serious autoimmune disease usually targeting people anywhere from 45-65 years old. Antisynthetase Syndrome causes the immune system to attack the body, affecting muscles, joints, hands, and lungs. Because of this, she has also developed the muscle disease Myositis and Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD). Everyday things that once felt simple--working, walking, lifting her arms, using her hands, and even swallowing--can now be challenging and painful. Living with a rare disease comes with more than the physical challenges. The treatments needed are expensive, and keeping the disease controlled can mean thousands of dollars in medical expenses and infusions. Because Antisynthetase Syndrome can continue to cause damage when it is not properly treated, getting the medications and care she needs is incredibly important--especially to keep her lung disease from progressing any further. While she never expected her life to change this sudden, she's determined to keep fighting. This benefit is not just about helping with medical bills--it's about giving her the opportunity to continue receiving the treatment she needs and fighting for her health and future.
