A 90 minute collaborative sound immersion with three practitioners in the soaring acoustics of historic First Lutheran Church. A Collaborative Sound Immersion with Sonya, Daniel & Adam Architecture of Sound: A Collaborative Sound Immersion with Sonya, Daniel & Adam Sound that envelops you: that’s the idea behind this evening. For 90 minutes, there’s nowhere else to be and nothing to do but let it move through the room, and through you. Sunday, December 13 · 6:00 PM · First Lutheran Church, Over the Rhine, Cincinnati Doors open at 5:30 PM, and the sound begins at 6:00 PM. Late arrivals will not be admitted after 6:15 PM, so please plan to arrive early enough to settle in. This event is on the second floor, reached by a flight of stairs. There is no elevator. Join Sonya Verma, Daniel Hall, and Adam Sutherland for a collaborative sound immersion in the sanctuary of First Lutheran Church, a historic Cincinnati landmark in Over the Rhine. A variety of gongs · singing bowls · didgeridoo · handpan · flutes · harp · cello · piano · guitar · chimes · drums · vocalization What to Expect You’ll be lying down for the full experience, with sounds layered throughout as the practitioners move through the space with their instruments. Everything is played to support relaxation and meditation. Whether this is your first sound immersion or your fiftieth, come as you are. Settle in, slow down, and let the evening unfold. Three Practitioners, One Soundscape This evening is built on listening. Sonya, Daniel, and Adam each arrive with their own instruments, training, and way of moving through sound. Once the room opens up, those differences start to answer one another: one sound hands off to another, a texture rises and fades, and no two moments repeat. Nothing is scripted. What you hear exists only in that room, on that night, because these three are playing together. Sonya Verma, MHSA, MBI, is an Integrative Health Educator, Certified Sound Therapist, Certified Ayurvedic Practitioner, E RYT 500, and Yoga Therapist with advanced training in mindfulness, meditation, somatic movement, and integrative wellness. She brings over 15 years of experience helping individuals cultivate greater self awareness, resilience, and wellbeing through evidence informed contemplative practices. Gentleness guides her work, along with an open invitation to explore, wonder, and play. Daniel Hall, MHSA, is a sound artist, lifelong learner, and meditation practitioner with a deep interest in mindful listening and the creative exploration of sound. He creates unique handcrafted instruments inspired by nature, including flutes and didgeridoos made from natural materials and repurposed PVC. His curiosity, creativity, and appreciation for sound contribute a distinctive and engaging element to each immersive experience. Adam Sutherland is a sound therapy practitioner and meditation teacher. He is deeply committed to inspiring people in their own rediscovery of inner peace, wellness, and wisdom. Adam encourages curiosity and openness to embrace one’s humanity with loving compassion. For this evening, all three share one space and one sound, each listening and responding to the others in real time. It’s a rare collaboration, and one you can only experience in the room. What to Bring A yoga mat, blanket, and pillow (some chairs will be available). Dress in layers, as body temperature can drop during deep relaxation. The Space Dedicated in 1895, First Lutheran Church has a circular sanctuary clad in timber framing, with Gothic stained glass beneath a conical roof, a design that lets every tone, from gong to harp, resonate and linger. Founded in 1841, the church counts among its early members a founder of the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, today’s CCM. Good to Know Accessibility: The event is on the second floor and requires walking up a flight of stairs. There is currently no elevator access. Questions about your needs?
