Celebration of De Leon Springs State Park- Volusia County, FL

A community hike to commemorate the induction of De Leon Springs State Park into the Old-Growth Forest Network. You are invited to join the Old-Growth Forest Network and De Leon Springs State Park to celebrate the induction of a very special forest of "old-Florida" into the Network! The Old-Growth Forest Network is creating a map of mature, protected forests, and the people who steward them. The mature tropical hardwood hammock forest being left to its own devices protects this forest, allowing it to continue to grow old and allowing future generations to experience the natural history of old Florida. Attendees are encouraged to prepare with full water bottles, sunscreen and hats, appropriate footwear for an easy hike, and anything else that would make the approximately hour long event comfortable. We plan on this event moving forward rain or shine, so please plan accordingly. Attendees will park and gather at the Old Methuselah/Nature Trail Trailhead. Please note there is a $4 for a vehicle with a single passenger, $6 for a vehicle with multiple passengers up to 8 people. ADA parking is available. Cell service is available.
