Learn to Laser Cut and Engrave

In this class, we'll explain the technology behind laser cutting, demo the process, and walk each attendee through engraving their own sign! In this two-hour class, we’ll introduce attendees to the exciting world of laser cutting and engraving! First, we’ll provide some background on the different types of laser cutters and engravers, the difference between cutting and engraving, and the different software involved in the process, including an in-depth demonstration of LightBurn, the software we use to control our lasers. After a safety briefing, each attendee will use LightBurn and our 60-watt CO2 laser to engrave their text of choice onto a piece of clear acrylic to take home. By the end of the class, attendees will have the knowledge to begin their journey into laser cutting and engraving, including the training required to cut or engrave designs into wood, leather, acrylic, and more at Open Workshops! Our shop will be open after the class ends; stick around to take a tour or work on a project!
