Jonathan Hannau and Richard Brasseale with Momo and Alvin

This is a seated, intimate dinner show featuring Jonathan Hannau and Richard Brasseale with Momo and Alvin! Full dinner service is available during the show. Seating will begin 30 minutes before the start of the show. Seating is assigned to ensure efficiency of service. Ticket price DOES NOT include food and drink. Jonathan Hannau is a Chicago-based composer and pianist whose original work embraces the surreal, minimal, and abstract possibilities of music. Heartfelt and honest, he creates ambient environments, long expressive melodies, and intricate rhythms supported by live looping and improvisation. For this particular set he will be joined by his longtime collaborator and friend Richard Brasseale on saxophone. Jonathan plays piano in two chamber groups: Mycelium New Music and Flannau Duo, which was awarded a Chicago DCASE grant for 2023-2024. He’s collaborated with Ensemble Dal Niente, ~Nois Saxophone quartet, Chicago Composers Orchestra, as well as numerous artists throughout the city of Chicago and abroad. In early 2024 he made his Chicago classical music radio debut on WFMT (98.7) where he performed works by Janacek and Bacewicz with violinist Hannah Christiansen. He currently holds the position as Artistic Director of the Chicago Composers Orchestra. Jonathan's recorded music is available online, including four full-length LPs and several collaborative EPs and singles. Fueled by mutual admiration and creative desperation, Momo (hornist) and Alvin (jazz guitarist) first engaged the challenges of cross-genre collaboration in 2020. The Chicago-based duo has released several records of co-composed originals and arrangements prioritizing loyalty to personal taste and individuality over genre. Their pieces are constructed as sequences of shapes, events, and dialogues, built on structured spontaneity. Momo and Alvin enjoy designing educational engagements around musical collaboration and creativity, making collaborative music videos, and performing with unique bands in local spaces.
