This organization supports early-stage climate technology entrepreneurs by pairing them with student teams to conduct customer discovery interviews, build prototypes, and raise money. Design Climate has helped partner ventures raise over $6.2 million, win small business grants, and find paying customers. Reach out to us for incubator support or to learn more! Duke RESTORE is focused on advancing the field of ecosystem restoration to enhance resilience of natural and human systems. Energy and Climate Ventures connects local climate entrepreneurs to Duke events like the Energy Week Innovation Showcase (Nov 12), Climate and Sustainability Make-a-thon (early Spring), and Energy and Climate Ventures Summit (Spring). Oceans@Duke is an interdisciplinary, university-wide program aimed at fostering education and research opportunities for students and faculty interned in the regenerative blue economy. We offer the Ocean Innovation Clinic pairing students with start-up and established companies working on solutions for a sustainable ocean. The Master of Engineering in Climate & Sustainability Engineering trains engineering leaders who work across climate, policy, business, and technical fields. Built in partnership with industry to fill real gaps in the workforce, the program prepares students in areas like energy transition, resilience, and sustainable business, with skills in modeling and stakeholder engagement. The Bass Connections class “Building a Duke Student Environmental Consultancy” is an interdisciplinary research class at Duke University that aims to establish a permanent pro bono Duke student environmental consultancy to support local organizations in making or achieving their sustainability goals. We’re currently working with Durham Public Schools to develop an inaugural systemwide Climate Action Plan, and we’re continuing to take on new clients. Accelerate Climate Tech Ventures with Duke is being sponsored by the Duke Office of Climate and Sustainability and Duke Design Climate. Design Climate is a partnership between the Nicholas School of the Environment and the Pratt School of Engineering at Duke University.
