We invite you to embark on An Adventure to Junk Journaling—a four hour workshop designed to help you discover your artistic side and create a book like no other. Whether you are a novice picking up a glue stick for the first time or an experienced artist looking for a new medium, this workshop is for you. We will explore the techniques that turn "junk" into a treasured book. You will learn how to: • Construct a Journal: Build a unique vessel from found materials and interesting papers. • Master Mixed Media: Apply techniques that layer color, texture, and secret pockets. • Curate Memories: Design layouts that hold your past memories while leaving room for new art possibilities. What to Bring: We provide the core supplies, but we encourage you to bring your "bits and bobs"—old letters, photos, or paper scraps that speak to you. At this time in her journey she's developed from a bookbinding artist into a junk journaling artist. This art form has its roots in bookmaking, and includes recycling and upcycling. The art form encompasses many of the paper arts genres--watercolor, origami, Zentangle, just to name a few. Kathy presently teach classes at Alamance Arts in Alamance County.
