That's exactly why we're bringing back Hidden Grounds' latte art classes. I'm Anand Patel, owner of Hidden Grounds Chai & Coffee House, and for this class I'm opening up our Jersey City training facility at 430 Communipaw Ave for a very small group of coffee lovers who want to get behind an espresso machine and learn. You'll pull espresso, steam your own milk, practice your pours and receive real-time, individual feedback as we work toward one goal: pouring your first latte-art heart. You'll leave having steamed your own milk and poured your own latte-art heart. DURING THE WORKSHOP YOU'LL LEARN • Espresso fundamentals and how espresso creates the canvas for great latte art • What properly steamed milk should look and feel like • How to create silky, glossy microfoam • Steam-wand positioning and milk vortex technique • How pour height, speed and pitcher position affect your design • How to integrate milk and espresso correctly • The mechanics behind pouring a classic heart • How to diagnose what went wrong when your pour doesn't work • How to continue practicing at home, even without commercial equipment We'll work on professional espresso equipment inside the same environment we use to train Hidden Grounds baristas. You'll get hands-on practice and individual correction throughout. And because latte art should be fun, we'll finish the night with a friendly Latte Art Throwdown. Best pour wins a little Hidden Grounds prize — bragging rights included. WHO IS THIS FOR? Complete beginners are welcome. No prior experience required. You do not need to be a barista or have any previous espresso-machine experience.
