Herbaceous: A Bittersweet Twist on the Average Drink & Draw

Learn to illustrate native plants and overcome your fear of herbaceous liqueurs with 21c, artist Caite Mae Ramos, and the UofA Herbarium. Join Ramos as they lead a 1-hour plant illustration workshop, based on their own artistic practice utilizing woodworking, drawing and plants to investigate their relationship with the land. Each participant will walk away with traditional and new methods of how to observe nature and record through drawing. Several different exercises will build confidence of mark making and cultivate a tool set of how to draw and spend time with the natural world, using specimens loaned from the University of Arkansas Herbarium teaching collection. But remember, in this workshop, plants aren't just for drawing! You will have the opportunity to try samples of 3 different liqueurs made with herbs, botanicals, spices, roots, and maybe even vegetables from beverage experts from The Hive. Can’t draw a straight line? Perfect, no straight lines or art experience necessary. Now is the chance to try something new and impress your friends with the skills and knowledge you will learn at Herbaceous. This will also be the last chance to view Ramos's work on display through the Elevate program at 21c. All supplies included in ticket price.
